What makes a good character? This is most definitely a question of personal preference. There are an insane amount of different characters that have been created throughout the history of man and they have been liked for many different reasons. Different characters appeal to different people, and there is no way to make a character liked by literally everyone. In my mind, there is one type of character that will appeal to me. (Unless they is something really unappealing about them.) A character with a simple premise but a complex execution. The character seems simple, but they are actually extremely complicated and deep. A character like this will undoubtedly get me interested, if even only at first glance.

Toxic communities ruin good media. The game Undertale is one of my favorite games of all time, but because it's community is terrible most people despise it. The show Rick and Morty also has a toxic fandom. The show itself is hilarious, with a great plot and memorable characters. The community drives people away from this great show. Splatoon 2, though not nearly as good as these other two, is a good experience. However, it's community is so terrible that people despise this game before they ever play it. Here lies the root of the problem, toxicity drives people away from good media, and that's why I hate it.
Marvel has gotten a lot of hype in recent years for it's great cinematic titles. Although the company's movies are noticeably better that those of DC, I believe that these two companies are equal. They both make incredible comics. Even though Marvel makes better movies, as previously mentioned, DC makes better cartoons. Marvel has some good cartoons, but DC has a wider array of brilliant titles. I know that this subject is a matter of opinion, and that I'm probably leaving out a few factors, but until either one of these companies pushes me to their side they are equals in my mind.
Nintendo had an astounding year in the form of 2017. They sold a good amount of systems and released many very good games. But following the "direct mini" that Nintendo released this January, I am much less optimistic. There was plenty of good ports in there, and I am extremely excited to play Dark Souls for the first time, but there was no sign of any big exclusives beyond Kirby. I adore Kirby, but it wasn't enough to make the direct seem amazing to me. Knowing Nintendo, there are probably some more surprises for this year, and I certainly hope there is, otherwise they won't sell nearly as many systems and games as they are expecting too.
