Nintendo had an astounding year in the form of 2017. They sold a good amount of systems and released many very good games. But following the "direct mini" that Nintendo released this January, I am much less optimistic. There was plenty of good ports in there, and I am extremely excited to play Dark Souls for the first time, but there was no sign of any big exclusives beyond Kirby. I adore Kirby, but it wasn't enough to make the direct seem amazing to me. Knowing Nintendo, there are probably some more surprises for this year, and I certainly hope there is, otherwise they won't sell nearly as many systems and games as they are expecting too.
